With the hustle and bustle of the day, sometimes all you want to do is get home, relax, and get a good night’s sleep. It sounds easy, but people all over the world have issues with this simple, yet complex task. Sleeping is important for a host of reasons. Our bodies require rest. Cells are repaired and vital functions are restored during sleep. It’s no wonder why doctors suggest that we get 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Here is an article on the history of sleep https://www.news-medical.net/health/History-of-Sleep.aspx
As the mother of an autistic adult, we have had our share of sleepless nights. My son, who is 19 years old, also has been diagnosed with ADHD, and another mental health condition. He has been on medications to control seizures and behaviors since he was 18 months old; you do the math. That is a very long time to be on medication, and as a result, it has affected his body’s ability to naturally rest. I can remember a few years ago trying all types of things to get him to sleep. Melatonin, which is a chemical naturally found in the body, is known for causing a natural calming effect in people. For my son, his doctor told me to give him over the counter melatonin to see if it would help him get to sleep. We had a lot of hit and misses with this, and eventually I gave up on using it and just allowed him to drift off to sleep, even if it was at 2 am. Did this affect his ability to function at school, yes. Did his behavior suffer, yes. But what do you do with a child whose body will not wind down, even when he is taking medication that says” will cause drowsiness”.
Now that he has graduated from High School, I am a bit more lenient on how long he can stay up at night, and I just allow him to go to sleep when he wants to. Still, it worries me that his body is not getting its fair share of repair. So, when I found out that HB Naturals has a Sleep cream, I was interested in seeing if this product would work for him. I read some testimonials and decided to take a chance. I felt more comfortable with him rubbing a cream into his body than for him taking something orally since he takes medications. I looked up the side effects to see if there were any based off his medications and there were none. Day 1, I asked him to rub the cream on his chest. My son, who is reluctant to try new things, obliged and rubbed it on his chest and thighs. Although he did not fall asleep fast, he did slow down a bit and got in the bed. Day 2, we repeated day 1 and again, he did not go immediately to sleep, but he calmed down. So, by day 3, when using Sleep by HB Naturals, my son was able to go to sleep at a decent time.
Do we use it every night, no. But when we do, I notice a marked difference in his behavior and a calm comes over him, which I appreciate. Sleep by HB Naturals uses magnesium and other essential oils that create a calming effect in the body. Since it bypasses the GI tract, the body can easily use it once applied to the skin. This product has not solved his sleeping issues, but it has helped calm him down, which is a blessing.
HB Naturals does not claim to heal or diagnose conditions. This is my personal experience with this product and if you are currently taking medication for any condition, please consult with your doctor prior to starting any supplements.
