Have you ever had one of those days where you just have a complete energy drain? Your get up and go, got up and went. Now you need to boost your energy naturally – and fast!
To be honest, I think I am having a whole week of those days…
So I was trying a variety of ways to re-energise my mind and body and resisting the urge to crawl back to bed. I thought I would share some of my favourite energy-boosting tips here 🙂
10 Easy Ways to Boost Your Energy Naturally – Fast!
- Smell lemons
Lemon is a stimulating scent that is thought to be mood busting as well as energising. Lemon has a whole host of other benefits too. It’s naturally anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, which is why you find it in natural cleaning products.
Of course, it smells great!
If your feeling low or lacking energy, pop some lemon essential oil in your diffuser for an instant pick me up! - Drink a cup of coffee
I’ll be honest, I get to be a bit of a coffee fiend. One cup leads to another…
Studies have shown that a single cup of coffee on their break could be enough to keep long haul drivers awake.
Rise and shine every day with Nova Smart Coffee. - Take a power nap
The optimum power nap is 10-20 minutes, so no getting your head down for a few hours… If you drink your coffee just before your power nap, you’ll wake up just as the caffeine is kicking in – now there’s an energy-boosting thought! - Stretch
Stand up and stretch those muscles out.
Do it now, I’ll wait…
Ahhhhhhh! That’s better! - And breathe
Breathe deep breaths into your diaphragm. Deep breathing gets oxygen into your bloodstream, boosts energy and improves stamina. - Laugh out loud
I should probably put this at #1 😀
Laugh.
It’s a brilliant way to lift your mood and increase energy levels.
And it’s catching…
Try laughing – fake it till you make it! Start saying, “Hahahahaha!” and lead into a forced laugh.
Before you know it, you’re laughing for real and anyone else in the room is laughing too! - Drink some water
Drinking enough water throughout the day is an easy way to boost your energy and avoid the lethargy of dehydration. - Go for a walk
Increasing your physical activity is an effective way to improve energy levels. Studies have shown that a quick 10-minute walk not only increases your energy, but the effects can last up to two hours!
There’s the added bonus of getting outside for your walk too. - Eat for energy
Avoid the after-lunch energy slump, eat foods with a low glycemic index (foods whose sugars are absorbed slowly). Low glycemic foods include high fibre vegetables, nuts, healthy oils. - Phone a friend
Being around negative or miserable people can really sap your energy. The opposite is also true. Being around upbeat positive people can give you a real energy-boosting lift.
